As someone who has grown fond of finding good eateries that includes good food and great dessert(subjective of course), I have found few places where I found one of few items that I think are great.
If you are in the mood for a great Mille Crepe, then I would head down to upper east side. For me, that means to walk from the south west side of central park and just head towards the east side of the park and in mere 25 minutes to get a slice of this sinful art of a dessert. I almost feel guilty eating this art.
Lady M - is an exquisite blend of French with Japanese influence. It's expensive, but you will not find these great selections in too many places.

If you like cheese cakes, Pearl River Pastry Company makes great ones. Alas, from what I can tell, they don't make that delicious Italian cheese cake anymore. They also make wonderful Chocolate Explosion cake, which is almost as good as Nobu.
Then of course there's Veniero's, a great Italian pastry place since 1894. I love their Italian cheese cake. Their price is actually very reasonable for the quality.
Then also, Whole Foods make very good dessert as well. Frankly, I think they make one of the best Tiramisu I ever tasted, it's not that rich and sweet compared to most places. And the price is very reasonable as well.
